Responsibilities

  • Directly and indirectly manage teams based in the US, India
  • Oversee GDT business applications/services that service GB/GFs in the US and globally
  • Drive execution of data programs that enables US strategy and Global strategy to achieve business and technology goals
  • Handle all GDT diverse technology from legacy to mid-tier and Cloud. In addition, progressively replaced with strategic alternatives
  • Oversee solution design incorporating data strategy and architecture guidance
  • Development and deployment to transform the Data technology landscape include a number of capabilities to enable business growth, mitigate data risk across all markets
  • Manage of the program to ensure development and deployment objectives are met in conjunction with technology risk mitigation objectives are aligned with group strategic directives and new ways of working
  • Establish partnerships with external organizations to leverage expertise and resources
  • Drive execution of all programs for the service upliftment of platforms within GDT
  • Vendor management covering a diverse number of 3rd parties. Work with vendors on Request for Proposals (RFP)
  • Annual Operating Plan (AOP) responsibility

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data structure, data architecture, data systems/tools and related software and data management policies and practices in a complex organizational environment

The US Data Engineering Lead is accountable to the US Global Business/Global Function (GB/GF) for end-to-end execution and delivery of all Group Data Technology Services consumed by the GB/GFs, including Change the Bank (CTB) programs and Run the Bank (RTB) production services. The job holder will oversee the delivery of GDT initiatives in the US market locally and globally. This involves accountability to provide a holistic view on financials, risk and controls, project planning, projects delivery, production quality, and people strategy, to be responsible for driving GDT-US and support the Business, and Architecture.

This role will report to the Group Data Engineering lead for the Americas. Him/her will work to ensure world class technology solutions that enable Business success by leading strategy and delivery.

This is a commercially astute role, where an excellent communicator and able to partner strongly with GDT service line stakeholders (GDT Exco) and Market leadership stakeholders. Drive collaboration to define technology strategies, create new solutions and drive a culture of continuous improvement. In addition, partnering with other DBS and IT counterparts, at various executive levels of the organisation including in-country leadership (CEO, COO, CIO).

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $180,300 and $270,400.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Experience running Data Programs and/or organizations at a large financial services institution
  • Experience with architecture design principles and technical definition/execution of large programs
  • Experience leading Data applications to support Enterprise strategy
  • Significant experience in executing Data migration programs between platforms to enable business growth with cost benefits
  • Technical knowledge on Data Platforms and the new trends (data analytics on Cloud)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Financial Services (Banking, Wealth Management, and Capital Markets)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data structure, data architecture, data systems/tools and related software and data management policies and practices in a complex organizational environment
  • Prove record of making sound judgments, effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; building teams and consensus; getting things done through others not directly under his/her supervision; and working ethically and with integrity
