Responsibilities

  • As a Compliance Technologist, you will need to
  • Champion food safety and quality culture; provide technical support on compliance
  • Engage with stakeholders and third parties to implement continuous improvements in Food Safety Management Systems and quality standards
  • Develop food and product safety excellence by identifying and sharing best practices
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Contribute to delivering the risk-based technical compliance audit schedule
  • Develop technical process documents to translate policy into operational procedures and Safe Systems of Work
  • Review quality systems and oversee the microbiological sampling and testing program
  • Support Technical Policy and Compliance projects
  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with food safety management systems and standards
  • Address non-conformances within agreed timescales
  • Support complaint and incident investigations, focusing on root causes
  • Regularly review and develop the food safety training program
  • Contribute to KPI reviews and deliver accurate reports with findings and recommendations
  • Use data insights to develop action plans for improving food safety and quality engagement
  • Review audit results and trends with the Technical Policy and Compliance team to identify improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to the team's OGSM (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, Measures)
  • Participate in on-call duties
  • Provide operational support during peak seasonal trading
  • Deputise for colleagues as needed

About the role:

This role offers an opportunity to work in a food safety position within an operational setting. The candidate will work closely with the Food Technology Lead and the Technical Policy & Compliance Team to promote a strong food safety and quality culture and to ensure the business is compliant with legislation As the primary contact for our sites and service providers, the candidate will ensure onsite compliance processes are clear and effective. They will collaborate with stakeholders to improve food safety, quality standards, compliance, and performance, contributing to product safety excellence by sharing best practices. In partnership with the Food Technology Lead, the candidate will develop and report on food safety and quality culture, using data insights to implement action plans that enhance Ocado's standards. The role includes developing technical policies and procedures, providing guidance on food safety issues, assisting in the creation of safe systems of work, updating food safety management systems, and delivering training. Additionally, the candidate will develop auditing skills by working with operational teams and auditing lower-risk areas.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in food science and must have worked in this industry within the UK. They should be computer literate and comfortable using technology for recording and reporting and must hold a full UK driving license. The candidate must also have experience in food retail and Food Safety with some experience in Auditing as well as HACCP certification
