Be the one others turn to. Be responsible. Be trusted with the safety of the nation. Become a British Army Officer, and you'll be doing something that really matters. Leading a team. Making a difference to the world.
It all starts at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. You'll learn the skills you need to become an Officer – from weapons handling to outdoor survival – to what it takes to lead your team in a range of hostile situations, anywhere in the world.
Once you've commissioned, you'll take charge of 30 soldiers. Then, you'll begin the specialist training you need to be an expert in your chosen field, whether that's engineering, intelligence gathering, or piloting an Apache helicopter. You'll also take part in Adventurous Training around the world, from skiing in the Alps to white-water rafting in Colorado. All while you're earning at starting salary of £33,183 while you're in training, then £39,671 when your training is complete.
You'll also enjoy a wide range of benefits that come with Army life, from sports and state-of-the-art training facilities, to earning valuable professional qualifications.
The rewards are exceptional, the challenge is incredible and there's no single bigger adventure in life. To make a difference to the world. To make something more of yourself.
Find where you belong.
Deal with the unexpected.
As an accredited Pharmacist, you'll have the medical knowledge and experience to advise senior commanders on the use and management of medications. You'll give guidance on distributing medical supplies and pharmaceutical care in Defence Medical Group Hospital Units (DMG), advise GPs in primary care and give pharmaceutical support to overseas bases. Whether it's during conflict or other operations, you'll typically deploy with a field hospital and provide a dispensing and ward-based clinical service. There will be lots of opportunity to develop your clinical skills, knowledge and experience.
Start the adventure of a lifetime.
During your training at Sandhurst, you'll be an Officer Cadet, earning £33,183 a year. As you progress through our ranks, this will rise to £50,540 for a Captain, and £63,387 when you become a Major.
You'll also receive 30 days' annual leave every year (plus bank holidays and extra leave after operations), free medical and dental care, cheaper living costs, and free gym and sports facilities. And unless you're away on operations or training exercises, you'll normally work 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
As an entry-level Officer, you'll start your career in a position of management, commanding responsibility for your team of soldiers. You don't need any experience to apply – through world-class training at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, you'll develop the transferrable leadership skills and qualifications you need to motivate and support your team.
Outside the Royal Military Academy, you'll continue to learn and grow through adventurous training and international travel. Being an Officer is a global adventure, whether you're leading expeditions, running operations abroad, or delivering humanitarian aid to communities in need.
To qualify, you must be between 17 years 9 months and 36 years and 11 months. You'll need an accredited degree in pharmacy (MPharm, BPharm, BSc) and to be a registered member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You'll also need to pass a basic fitness test.
