Responsibilities

  • SHE Leadership: Develop and demonstrate high levels of safety, health, and environmental (SHE) behaviours through strategic improvements and the positive promotion of safety awareness, risk management, and compliance
  • Accountability: Ensure maintenance services and production outputs meet safety, quality, work acceptance, and cost performance standards
  • Resource Management: Submit resource demand information for sign-off to ensure robust supply solutions across trade groupings and multiple platforms
  • Team Leadership: Ensure Team Leaders deliver work according to production plans and schedules, maintaining service orders for project deliverables
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion change, drive improvements, and enforce company processes and tools, ensuring high standards of delivery, problem-solving, and compliance with company policies and values

Contract

40 hours per week

  • Excellent frontline Management skills, demonstrating communication, listening and processes skills
  • Ability to run large complex projects whilst effectively deploying resources and maintaining cost controls, demonstrating numerical, analytical and time management skills
  • Ideally degree in Business (Or equivalent), APM or experience
  • Excellent technical abilities and problem-solving skills in chosen trade whilst using sound schedule and specification growth management skills and experience

    Can you lead a team supporting fast paced projects across a section of vessels? If so, we have a great opportunity here at BAE Systems for a IWT Lead at our site in Portsmouth.

    What you'll be doing:

    • SHE Leadership: Develop and demonstrate high levels of safety, health, and environmental (SHE) behaviours through strategic improvements and the positive promotion of safety awareness, risk management, and compliance

    Your skills and experiences:

    • Ability to run large complex projects whilst effectively deploying resources and maintaining cost controls, demonstrating numerical, analytical and time management skills. Ideally degree in Business (Or equivalent), APM or experience
    • Excellent technical abilities and problem-solving skills in chosen trade whilst using sound schedule and specification growth management skills and experience
    • Very high levels of SHE knowledge that will require Risk Assessment and Method Statements skills and functional knowledge. Ideally, NEBOSH trained
    • Excellent frontline Management skills, demonstrating communication, listening and processes skills. Ideally have Lean/six sigma or situational leadership training

    The team:

    You will be leading a dynamic and hardworking team, managing their workload, and assessing their performance whilst liaising with various internal stakeholders and the MOD customer.

    As the IWT lead you will lead, mentor, and manage an Integrated Work Team responsible for the constructive aspects of ship repair, including steel workers, welders, and fabricator teams. The goal is to ensure all production outputs meet project milestones on time, safely, with the right quality, and within budget. The Integrated Work Team will consist of several Team Leaders and maintenance operatives with trade disciplines. This role is critical in delivering Warship Support outputs that meet customer expectations.
