The Software Engineering Specialist independently executes advanced activities to deliver the engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross functional business partnering and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as engineering excellence.
Play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of tasks necessary for the design and deployment of complex technical solutions, such as research, scoping, designing, and implementing IT platforms and solutions.
Create essential artefacts to facilitate business transformation, including impact assessments, design documents, and implementation guidelines.
Assist in the ongoing changes to requirements for platforms and systems.
Develop and sustain in-depth knowledge in one or more specified areas.
Aid Solutions Architects in developing platform design documents and future roadmaps.
Demonstrate a keenness to learn and acquire additional skills.
Actively identify and resolve risks, issues, and defects to maintain the required standard of delivery.
Review personal work and that of peers to spot and highlight errors or potential problems.
Forge working relationships and communicate with a variety of project stakeholders across teams to ensure tasks are completed, progress is reported, and impacts on other components are managed.
We are looking for individuals with a range of skills in one or more of the following areas/disciplines, and a good understanding of on-prem infrastructure including, networking, monitoring, firewall management would be an advantage.

Not all of the above boxes need to be ticked, we are looking for candidates that have experience in one or many.
The successful candidate will work in a medium size team along with junior and senior infrastructure design engineers, owning the design of the platform and also being 4th line support in a multi-department service model.
Is eligible to hold a minimum of SC clearance
Is able to regularly attend Defence offices as per customer / platform requirements
Holds a technical degree or industry-relevant experience or relevant demonstrable knowledge
Is able to read, understand and update complex design artefacts
Can communicate effectively with a range of customer types across the business, both internal and external
Stakeholder management - evidence of managing multiple stakeholders across a variety of roles and seniority levels
Is able to develop subject matter expertise in engineering functions such as Service Management, Network Management or Infrastructure Management
Can work under direction in a fast-paced environment on a variety of projects or issues
Has an understanding of ITIL practices and understands how they apply to IT Service Management platforms
