Responsibilities

  • You will be part of the Commercial Estimating function working closely with all areas of the business, across a broad spectrum of tasks, from facility business cases to design studies to whole boat pricing that will give you an excellent understanding of the submarines business and how it operates
  • Taking a leading role to support the business through the creation of cost and price estimates, in relation to the management of existing contracts and the capture of new business, through the supply of critical data and analysis in support of key business decision
  • Generating and populating cost models by collating and analysing data from multiple sources (e.g., actual costs, national statistics or contracted rates) to support the business. All models to be supported by Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Validated and Verified (V & V)
  • Providing cost estimating guidance, at an appropriate level, to other departments and functions
  • Developing and maintaining high level customer relationships both cross functionally and with external customers including support to customer price negotiations
  • Supporting the cost estimating end to end processes and understand how the processes as set out, interact with the role
  • Scenario and simulation analysis on a micro to macro level to inform key business decisions
  • Coaching and mentoring junior staff as required in support of management

Contract

40 hours per week

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Degree Level Qualification or equivalent by experience within Cost Estimation in major projects
  • Microsoft Packages in particular Excel
  • Data Analysis, critical thinking and problem solving skills

Desirable

  • Experience of different estimating toolsets such as Montecarlo, parametric, propricer
