  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively to the management team
  • Experience with ITSM tools such as TopDesk, ServiceNow, Jira, and ManageEngine, as well as SAM tools like Flexera, Snow, and License Dashboard
  • Thorough knowledge of licensing programs, particularly Microsoft, is highly desirable

Job Title: Software Licence Manager

Location: Doxford Park, Sunderland

Working Model: (Hybrid – 3 Days on site, 2 days from home)

Salary: up to £40,051 (+10% bonus scheme)


NRG is thrilled to announce we are working alongside a leading Utility organization in their search for a Software License Manager. This is an exciting time to join our client during a dynamic period of growth as they as they enhance their core infrastructure.


Role Overview:


In this role, you will be responsible for the purchasing and management of software licenses. You will collaborate with individual vendors and framework partners to procure software that aligns with business needs. Additionally, you will monitor software usage to ensure that client maximizes the value of their investments.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and support the software governance processes and procedures across the business to improve the data, better exploit the assets and deliver benefits and savings.


  • Populate and maintain a Software Asset Management database with all relevant information on the licenses and assets.


  • Using asset management tools, monitor and manage software assets to ensure the required information is captured and is current and correct and provides a single source of truth ensuring accurate recording and reporting of all software assets.


  • Manage software compliance and license utilisation to ensure the most effective software licence agreements are achieved and that NGN is not in breach of its licence agreements.


  • Manage any financial and compliance risks and/or issues raised on software assets through to a satisfactory conclusion.


  • Manage the software deployment process effectively by triaging software requests and providing approvals after reviewing the licence position.


  • Undertake audits of software assets as required, providing regular reports to management on compliance to minimise the risk to the business.


  • Build and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships that will support NGN’s ability to deliver its mission, its reputation and remain sustainable.



What we are looking for:


  • Experience with ITSM tools such as TopDesk, ServiceNow, Jira, and ManageEngine, as well as SAM tools like Flexera, Snow, and License Dashboard


  • Thorough knowledge of licensing programs, particularly Microsoft, is highly desirable.


  • Technical expertise in software deployment, management, licensing, and contracts.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities.


  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively to the management team.


  • Certifications such as ITIL Foundation (or higher), Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM), or Certified Hardware Asset Management (CHAMP) are highly advantageous.
