  • Vision and ability to leverage data to identify and improve business process inefficiencies
  • Diplomacy, tact, and a helpful, positive, professional presentation and attitude

  • Experience in senior housing sector preferred but not required

Job Description

The Associate will focus on management of Brookfield’s senior housing and other existing alternative sector investments, and will work closely with the Portfolio Management team, Brookfield’s affiliates, and operating partners towards the goals maximizing returns and growing the business.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining complex investment models for our various investments
  • Assist in preparing and guiding portfolio company quarterly board packages
  • Assist in underwriting and due diligence of new investments, refinancings, dispositions, etc.
  • Maintaining and updating valuations on portfolio investments
  • Frequent data analytics and scenario analysis to assist in operational and strategic decisions to improve investment performance
  • Assist in relationship management with operators, JV partners and investors
  • Track and update status of business objectives for each property/portfolio
  • Track capital market and real estate trends in the various sectors, including sale comps, supply/demand relative to the industry and portfolio exposure
  • Assist preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of the portfolio including valuations, reforecasting and business planning
  • Conducting and maintaining sector investment research to keep PM team abreast of big-picture themes
  • Monthly review of operating statements and financials
  • Draft investment committee memorandums, investment recommendations and investor presentations as needed

Essential Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in business, finance, accounting or real estate.
  • 3-5 years of experience in real estate, in a portfolio management, investment banking, equity research or operational consulting role, preferably with experience in intensive operational sectors (experience in senior housing sector preferred but not required)
  • Exceptional analytical, financial and corporate modeling, statistical and valuation skills
  • Strong understanding of real estate capital markets and macro/microeconomics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Diplomacy, tact, and a helpful, positive, professional presentation and attitude
  • Excellent presentation skills, especially with PowerPoint
  • Vision and ability to leverage data to identify and improve business process inefficiencies

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
