Job Title: Settlement Attorney
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Westwood) – will consider onsite and hybrid (not fully remote)
Compensation and Benefits: $100,000.00 - $200,000.00 base salary, bonus / commission plan based on candidates level of experience, 401(k), Health insurance (50% coverage level includes dependents), Dental insurance, Vision insurance, Paid time off, Referral program
Opportunity: Our client, a reputable boutique plaintiff's employment litigation firm, is seeking a dedicated Settlement Attorney to join their esteemed Employment practice group in the Los Angeles office. This firm is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for employees who have been wronged in the workplace. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience and a strong interest in employment law. The firm is dedicated to rectifying unfair workplace practices and ensuring comprehensive justice for mistreated employees.
General Accountabilities:
- Represent clients at court hearings, including Motion for Preliminary Approval, Motion for Final Approval, Status Conferences, and Accounting Hearings post-disbursement.
- Engage in regular communication with clients and Settlement Administrators, coordinating with staff to review Class Notices.
- Monitor the status of Proposed Orders filed with the court to initiate settlement administration.
- Ensure all key dates, such as hearings, briefing deadlines, administration deadlines, and payment schedules, are accurately calendared.
- Oversee staff to guarantee timely completion of filings, client follow-ups regarding settlement agreements and declarations, and providing updates to clients.
- Offer strategic recommendations on settlement negotiations.
- Keep the firm's Accountant informed of all financial transactions related to settlements, including forwarding agreements and distributions, clarifying fund allocations as per settlement agreements, managing referrals, coordinating timely client payments, and ensuring the Accountant receives scanned copies of all checks.
Preparation Responsibilities:
- Draft Wage and Hour Class Action and PAGA Action Settlement Agreements.
- Draft Individual Claims Settlement Agreements and Settlement Distributions.
- Prepare Class Notices and obtain bids from Settlement Administrators.
- Draft Motions for Preliminary Approval, including client declarations, Proposed Orders, settlement administrator declarations, and Proofs of Service.
- Draft Motions for Final Approval, including client declarations, Proposed Orders, Proposed Judgments, settlement administrator declarations, and Proofs of Service.
- Prepare Stipulations to Amend Complaints in settled cases and Amended Complaints.
- Draft Attorney declarations in support of Motions.
- Compile Joint Reports on settled cases.
- File Requests for Dismissal, without prejudice, of Class and/or PAGA claims, along with declarations and proposed orders.
- File Requests for Dismissal with prejudice when appropriate.
- Draft Amended Proposed Orders and Judgments consistent with final court rulings after Preliminary and/or Final Approval.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: CA Bar License
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in employment and/or class action litigation (excluding workers' compensation experience).
- Preferred Skills: Bilingual capabilities, though not mandatory.

- Approachability and enthusiasm.
- Proficiency in software programs such as Filevine, GSuite, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Excel, or other similar software necessary for the role.
