Hours of work: 40 hours per week
Salary: £18,000 - £24,000 pa (negotiable depending on age/experience - with pay progression)
Job Description
We offer an exciting career-start opportunity to enter Financial Services and develop the knowledge and skills to be a Mortgage and Protection Adviser. As a driven individual, you will thrive on learning about mortgages and protection and build towards completing the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP). Through a programme of in-house training, you will acquire the administrative skills to support the successful, smooth-running of HomeLife’s Financial Solutions Ltd, and will proactively progress applications from first appointment to completion, developing a strong skill-set in customer services and client relationships as an Adviser.
The full-time role will be based at our office in the beautiful surroundings of Nostell Estate in Nostell, Wakefield, with free parking, an on-site cafe and National Trust walks on the doorstep.
Training Programme
Year 1 – Administration of Mortgages and Protection
- Developing an understanding of operational aspects of a Mortgage and Protection Brokerage.
- Managing the administrative tasks surrounding mortgage and protection applications.
- Supporting the progression of cases and liaising with clients, solicitors and estate agents to develop effective manners and methods of communication.
- Developing advising presentational skills in preparation for Year 2.
Year 2 – Paraplanning of Mortgages and Protection
- Developing the research and critical thinking skills to problem solve and understand what makes a suitable recommendation for a client.
- Learn of market products and their benefits and drawbacks.
- Practice interpersonal skills to build strong client relationships.
- Build an awareness of market competition and the important of brand reputation and customer service.
Year 3 – CeMAP Qualifications
CeMAP Level 1
- Unit 1: Introduction to Financial Services Environment and Products
- Unit 2: UK Financial Services and Regulation
CeMAP Level 2
- Unit 3: Mortgage Law, Policy, Practice and Markets
- Unit 4: Mortgage Applications
- Unit 5: Mortgage Payment Methods and Products
- Unit 6: Mortgage Arrears and Post Completion Issues
CeMAP Level 3
- Unit 7: Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge
Year 4 – Full Mortgage and Protection Adviser
- Driving own appraisal process to successful gain network approval as an adviser.
- Adhering to business targets and objectives to drive the growth of HomeLife Financial Solutions.
- Develop time management skills to manage a client bank and safely service their financial needs.
- Acquiring strong interpersonal skills to effectively listen and communicated important information and provide clear advice.

Experience and Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.
- Experience of working work Microsoft Software, including Word and Excel.
