Candidate requirements

  • If you have a particular interest in supporting young people with Autism and other learning disabilities, we would be especially keen to hear from you
  • Experience of working with children/young people with SEND

Working Hours: This post requires the employee to be present during school hours and to work 8 hours a day.

Salary: £20,000 - £23,000 depending on experience plus inspection bonus

Job Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, who is looking for someone who would love to work in an exciting environment as part of a great team and who would thrive knowing that they make a difference to young people’s lives every day. We are expanding our education team to support pupils with Special Needs and so we are looking to recruit two Teaching Assistants to support our pupils. If you have a particular interest in supporting young people with Autism and other learning disabilities, we would be especially keen to hear from you.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for supporting children’s attainment and progress in their learning activities by working closely with a variety of professionals. You will support the teacher with resourcing activities matched to planning, supporting pupils with their learning, delivering areas of the curriculum, completing observations, assessments and providing next steps to support pupils’ development.

Roles And Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • To set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils including the careful presentation of work and the care of books and equipment.
  • To support pupils with their learning under the direction of teachers and management
  • To support teachers with any administrative tasks
  • To promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Prepare and present displays
  • Take responsibility for pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required
  • Record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupils
  • Participate in the arrangements for preparing pupils for external examinations
  • Support pupils to develop their skills of independence, resilience and confidence
  • Support the use of ICT in the curriculum
  • Complete all daily cleaning checks
  • Administer first aid and/or medication (once trained)
  • Help pupils with personal care (as appropriate)
