Responsibilities

  • You will have numerous responsibilities as the primary point of contact for Health, Safety, Fire, and Environment (HSFE) matters
  • You'll provide expert guidance, integrate best practices, and carefully evaluate legal requirements before offering advice
  • Timely and precise reporting of HSFE data is crucial, alongside conducting comprehensive audits and inspections across designated facilities
  • Staying updated on legal changes, you'll recommend policy and management system updates, ensure environmental compliance, and support various business projects to mitigate risks for Ocado
  • Additionally, you'll coach project management in risk assessments and safe work systems, continuously improving effectiveness
  • Other duties include accident investigation support, collaborating on HSFE Strategy updates, and analysing health and safety trends for enhanced performance
  • You'll also coach and develop the Ocado workforce on HSFE management standards
  • Proficiency in these areas is essential for fulfilling this diverse range of responsibilities.

Contract

40 hours per week

Candidate requirements

    About the role:

    This is a Fixed term role for 12 months

    The purpose of the role is to support our business customers with the successful deployment of the Ocado Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental management systems and strive to surpass regulatory compliance. The HSE mission is “to deliver safely for you and our client partners” and this key role supports the operational teams to achieve this aim. The successful applicant would need to drive as this is a regional role across our UK sites (Please see locations in the header)

    About you:

    The ideal candidate for this position must be a car owner with insurance coverage for business use, embodying a collaborative "can do" and "in this together" approach. They should demonstrate creative and pragmatic thinking to tackle business challenges, with a keen eye for detail. Minimum qualifications include a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent qualification, along with the ability to compile accurate, detailed reports. Relevant experience in HSFE roles and a solid grasp of basic project management principles are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

    Preferred qualifications, in addition to the minimum requirements, include previous experience in an automated distribution/manufacturing environment, NEBOSH Certificate for Fire Safety and/or NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction, and IEMA Foundation Membership.
