  • Works across teams, driving alignment between the design organisation, engineering and product management teams.
  • Defines and tracks progress against key UX metrics.
  • Tracks the reach and impact of our UX work, including a backlog of potential future work.
  • Steps in to support broader UX design work as required, covering the entire human centered design lifecycle.

The User Experience team is fairly new within the Openreach Technology organisation so this role is critical in helping us establish user led rather than business led design practices across the Openreach IT functions.

This role will work across our large IT estate, partnering with the business and engineering teams to drive the adoption of our new Openreach design system and design standards, whilst championing a UX mindset and practices. They will also support some high level design ops activities, introducing, owning and tracking our design measures as well as managing the backlog of demand for the team.

The main responsibilities include:

Visual design – creating interactions in to a simple and intuitive interface

User research and testing – understanding user needs and testing ideas

Data analysis and design metrics – quantifying the value of UX work

Front end development – understanding of how UI's are built and the end to end software development process. Able to inspect and understand code.

User journey mapping – taking an end to end delivery approach

Accessibility – making sure our products are usable by all
