We're Hiring: LGV Instructor (This role requires travel across sites)

The LGV team plays a crucial role within Ocado Logistics - ensuring that the wheels keep turning and everything is where it needs to be, at the right time. Are you an experienced LGV Class 1 driver with a passion for training and development? We are looking for an LGV Instructor to deliver high-quality, on-road and classroom-based training to new and existing LGV drivers, team managers, and supervisors. In this role, you'll help improve service levels, reduce Occupational Road Risk, and support our core health and safety objectives.

About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced LGV Instructor to train the next generation of professional drivers. In this role, you'll ensure the safety and compliance of our drivers by delivering World Class training. As the go-to person for training, you'll play a vital role in inspiring and motivating our drivers.

The role involves 10 hour shifts over a 4 day week. Occasional pre-planned night and weekend work may be required to support the operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver LGV driver training, including classroom and on-road instruction
  • Supervise trainees during courses, ensuring their safety, welfare, and performance
  • Provide ongoing assessments and driver certifications
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of road traffic regulations, driver's hours rules, and the Highway Code
  • Complete training reports and assessments to a high standard
  • Support a multisite operation, requiring travel across various locations

About You:

Essential

  • Full Clean Driving Licence
  • Minimum of 3 years LGV Class 1 experience
  • No live sanctions
  • Up to date Driver CPC
  • Up to date knowledge of the Highway Code and traffic regulations
  • Knowledge of current LGV technology and basic maintenance
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to motivate the timid and firmly control the strong willed in the classroom and during in-car training to ensure complete safety at all times
  • Knowledge of Google suites
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate individuals and groups
  • Complete all training reports and assessment summaries promptly and to a high standard.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of the Quality Assurance process including course evaluation to enable the team to meet all objectives.

Desirable

  • Be registered on either the National Register of Instructors (NRI) or National Vocational Driving Instructor Register
  • Experience of completing on-road driving assessments
  • Experience of delivering classroom presentations
  • Experience of developing driver behaviour and attitude
  • The ability to develop and deliver driver related training
  • Assist in the development of new initiatives for all aspects of driver training, road/driver safety and driver assessments.
