Responsibilities

  • MDOPS
  • Provide guidance and support for system engineering of large-scale systems, major system elements, and interfacing systems that are part of a large complex network environment with geographically distributed components.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for future system enhancements and design.
  • Update System Engineering Documentation.
  • Provide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) or similar evaluation methodologies.
  • Interface with Program Management, System and Software Integration Engineers, Test Engineers, Information Assurance Engineers, and other project team members in an Agile environment.
  • Develop and implement system engineering practices ensuring the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks.
  • Communicate with and effectively collaborate with internal technical professionals on a day-to-day basis, and with representatives from customer organizations when necessary.
  • Actively participate in program increment planning and related Agile team activities.
  • Provide hands on technical assistance to engineering teams for data gathering and auditing purposes throughout multiple data centers.

Contract

40 hours per week

Candidate requirements

  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework
  • Servers, Switches, Firewalls, and other Enterprise Infrastructure hardware
  • Must have experience with typical data center related software such as Virtualization platforms, Microsoft/Linux server management, Network Switch and Firewall client applications, antivirus, and backup and recovery software
  • Must possess a solid understanding of secure systems engineering and development
  • Hands-on experience maintaining hardware and software and/or tracking hardware assets and/or software licenses
  • In-depth experience transitioning legacy systems to new architectures
  • Experience working as an admin on Windows Server and Linux Server platforms
  • Must have requirements verification traceability experience
  • Must have experience gathering information related to the lifecycle of equipment and software
  • Must have experience in discovery, research and analysis for hardware and software transitions
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology or as a member of an Agile team
  • Must have experience analyzing user requirements, system architecture, and/or system requirements specifications

Job Description

Candidates must possess a high level of in-depth expertise necessary to design and develop new capabilities for a complex system with exacting interface, performance, and security requirements. The selected individual will provide system engineering expertise in several of the following areas: architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/implementation, testing, and documentation. She/he will analyze user requirements, system architecture, and system requirements specifications, provide systems engineering expertise, and develop system architecture and system design documentation. Responsibilities include supporting and providing guidance for system development and implementation planning through assessment of system engineering plans and system integration and test plans; supporting the development of system configuration documentation, including designs for capacity and performance planning; and performing engineering activities such as risk assessments and analyses of alternatives for a variety of system related issues and concerns. Responsibilities may also include helping to create test procedures and defining task success criteria.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must have in-depth experience in several of the following areas: system architecture, design and development, requirements analysis, data flow design/analysis, network design/implementation, testing, technical system documentation.
  • Must have substantial experience with data centers and/or server rooms, to include: Rack based Servers, Network Switches, KVM's, Routers, Backup and Recovery devices, Firewalls, and security appliances.
  • Must have experience with typical data center related software such as Virtualization platforms, Microsoft/Linux server management, Network Switch and Firewall client applications, antivirus, and backup and recovery software.
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience with infrastructure components (Servers, Switches, Firewalls, and other Enterprise Infrastructure hardware).
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience working with network design or foundational networking.
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience working on system architecture design, building, and integration.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience as a Senior Architect working on large complex system architectures.
  • Must have at least 5 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining Windows and Linux systems (not Help Desk/ticket experience).
  • Must have requirements verification traceability experience.
  • Must have experience analyzing user requirements, system architecture, and/or system requirements specifications.
  • Must have experience in discovery, research and analysis for hardware and software transitions.
  • Must have experience gathering information related to the lifecycle of equipment and software.
  • Must possess a solid understanding of secure systems engineering and development.
  • Must be comfortable working on multiple systems and components simultaneously in various configurations.
  • Must be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking and communicate clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.
  • Must be capable of performing systems engineering activities in support of Agile teams on a large program.
  • Must be committed to adopting, adhering to, and championing best practices.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field, and at least 12 years of related experience.
  • In-depth experience transitioning legacy systems to new architectures.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering.
  • Experience with risk management/risk register.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining hardware and software and/or tracking hardware assets and/or software licenses.
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology or as a member of an Agile team.
  • Experience working as an admin on Windows Server and Linux Server platforms.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $112420 - $191070

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
