Responsibilities

  • Intelligence & Security (I&S), based in McLean, Virginia, designs and delivers advanced defense, intelligence, and security solutions that support the important missions of our customers
  • Researches, develops, implements, and maintains STARS rules, radar video maps and adaptation databases using source data and ATC knowledge and skills relative to individual DOD terminal operational environments
  • Reviews proposed software modifications for their impact on the operational environment and support software
  • Designs and monitors the execution of test and implementation plans
  • Develops and edits training material as required

Contract

40 hours per week

Job Description

The selected applicant will provide overall technical and training support for the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) Department of Defense (DOD) Operational Support Facility (OSF) located in St. Inigoes, Maryland. Researches, develops, implements, and maintains STARS rules, radar video maps and adaptation databases using source data and ATC knowledge and skills relative to individual DOD terminal operational environments. Designs and monitors the execution of test and implementation plans. Reviews proposed software modifications for their impact on the operational environment and support software. Develops and edits training material as required. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of ATC inter-facility operations as well as the interface of operations with adjacent ATC facilities. The selected applicant will interface with customers to ensure project continuity and efficiency.

The selected applicant plans and conducts analysis of STARS software, adaptation, work processes and operational practices. Provides STARS technical assistance to operational field personnel for software and adaptation malfunctions to address problems quickly and implement corrective action, which often requires the coordination of on-site activities with all affected personnel.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County, near to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. It is primarily on-site at the STARS DoD OSF located at Webster Outlying Field in St. Inigoes, MD, with the potential for some remote work (less than 50%).

There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

High School diploma and at least 8 years of related experience

Minimum four years of Military Air Traffic Control experience

FAA certified

Knowledge of ATCoach software

Operational experience with STARS or MEARTS Automation experience

Familiarity with MS Office applications

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Approach Control qualification

Proficiency in developing ATC simulation scenarios

STARS Automation Systems Specialist

Proficiency in developing and establishing procedures for automation and simulations

Familiarity with UNIX operating language

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $92290 - $156860

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
