Responsibilities

  • Provide hands on SHE support at the site, including evaluating risk, responding and addressing SHE concerns, and supporting leadership with continuous improvement activities.
  • Conduct risk and ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements.
  • Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site.
  • This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
  • Comply and conform to internal and external requirements, including federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, ISO14001, and ISO45001.
  • Participate in incident investigations including determination of root cause and corrective action plans.
  • Participate and co-lead various SHE committees in support of the overall SHE Management System.
  • Attend unit meetings and stand-up meetings and present safety starts/SHE communications.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to continually improve our High Voltage/High Power and Battery Manufacturing/Test processes.
  • Remove hazards and/or protect employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment.
  • Create an open, trusted relationship with teams to maximize open dialogue and maintain an inclusive work environment.
  • Develop strategies and improvement plans to drive continuous improvement, including risk reductions and cultural improvements to minimize incidents, with a focus on significant SHE risks.
  • Build partnerships with internal customers to understand their priorities and challenges and demonstrate agility in response to their needs.
  • Stay current on regulatory updates and proactively develop plans to address new requirements.

Contract

40 hours per week

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) Specialist for the Electronic Systems Endicott, New York site. In this role as SHE Specialist, you'll support as a trusted business partner committed to supporting all employees in delivering a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The SHE team provides innovative solutions to reduce risk, resulting in quality products, services, and on-time delivery to our customers.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or least 4 years of relevant experience in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE), or 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver work products on time and on/under budget.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to operate and interact with all levels within an organization (from senior executives to hourly staff) and build positive working relationships.
  • Well versed in OSHA regulations, ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Ability to manage various SHE databases and proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience
  • Professional Certification related to Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE), such as CSP or CIH.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $102200 - $173700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
