Responsibilities

  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done
  • To solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy
  • Provision of subject matter expertise on security systems and engineering patterns
  • Collaboration across the bank, including developers and security teams, to ensure that cryptographic solutions align with business objectives, security policies and regulatory requirements
  • Execution of audits to monitor, identify and assess vulnerabilities in the banks infrastructure/software and support the response to potential security breaches
  • Identification of advancements in to support the innovation and adoption of new cryptographic technologies and techniques
  • Development/ Implementation and maintenance of Identity and Access Management solutions and systems
  • Development and implementation of protocols, algorithms, and software applications to protect sensitive data and systems

Contract

40 hours per week

Candidate requirements

  • Intermediate/Advance level of scripting/coding ability , Python, PowerShell
  • Strong foundational knowledge of at least one core security domain
  • Desirable skills for the role include
  • You will develop a strong understanding of security tooling
  • Strong foundation knowledge in cloud technologies at least in one CSP
  • Strong foundation knowledge in cloud technologies at least in one CSP (AWS or Azure) and hybrid Openshift
  • Strong knowledge of security network architectures Firewalls, DMZ, proxies, DNS, web and mail servers, and the principles of networking
  • You will develop a strong understanding of security tooling (commercial off-the-shelf), along with the supporting platform build and application configuration to meet stakeholder requirements

We are looking for a Security Engineer to join a regulated, enterprise scale Security Engineering team where you will collaborate to deliver exciting programs of work, owning and taking the technical lead, ensuring items are completed as expected. You will develop a strong understanding of security tooling (commercial off-the-shelf), along with the supporting platform build and application configuration to meet stakeholder requirements.

Key skills required for the role include:

  • Security or infrastructure background
  • Strong foundation knowledge in cloud technologies at least in one CSP (AWS or Azure) and hybrid e.g. Openshift
  • Strong knowledge of security network architectures e.g. Firewalls, DMZ, proxies, DNS, web and mail servers, and the principles of networking

Desirable skills for the role include:

  • Strong foundational knowledge of at least one core security domain (Vulnerability Management, Endpoint, Data Security, etc.)
  • Infrastructure administration, Windows/Linux, Containers
  • Intermediate/Advance level of scripting/coding ability e.g., Python, PowerShell

This role can be based out of either Knutsford or Glasgow.

Purpose of the role

To develop, implement and maintain solutions that support the safeguarding of the banks systems and sensitive information.

Accountabilities

  • Provision of subject matter expertise on security systems and engineering patterns.
  • Development and implementation of protocols, algorithms, and software applications to protect sensitive data and systems.
  • Management and protection of secrets, ensuring that they are securely generated, stored, and used.
  • Execution of audits to monitor, identify and assess vulnerabilities in the banks infrastructure/software and support the response to potential security breaches.
  • Identification of advancements in to support the innovation and adoption of new cryptographic technologies and techniques.
  • Collaboration across the bank, including developers and security teams, to ensure that cryptographic solutions align with business objectives, security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Development/ Implementation and maintenance of Identity and Access Management solutions and systems.
