Responsibilities

  • Attend conferences and meetings to represent assigned activity

    BAE Systems is looking for a qualified Nuclear Surety Project Manager to join our team for an exciting opportunity to work on a unique government contract. The contract assists in acquisition and technical sustainment engineering and will augment government resources. The contract also provides breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and demonstration/validation.

    About the Job: Our experts are responsible for integrated weapon system management, from inception to retirement. As the Program Protection Project Manager, you will work on a high-performing team and provide subject matter expertise to the government customer to facilitate the integration of anti-tamper, hardware assurance, software assurance, supply chain risk management, and security specialties such as personnel security, industrial security, physical security, information security, and operations security.

    As a Nuclear Surety Project Manager, you will work on a high-performing team and provide subject matter expertise to the government customer using the Department of Defense definition for Nuclear Weapons Surety: Materiel, personnel, and procedures which contribute to the security, safety, and reliability of nuclear weapons and to the assurance that there will be no nuclear weapon accidents, incidents, unauthorized weapon detonations, or degradation in performance at the target. A qualified candidate will:

    • Perform as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to augment USAF resources and provide weapon system expertise to maintain the nuclear surety and nuclear certification programs for the Minuteman III weapon system in accordance with requirements detailed in Department of Energy, Department of Defense, United States Strategic Command, and Air Force directives, manuals and instructions.
    • Develop, review, and coordinate Nuclear Certification Impact Statements (NCIS), Certification Requirement Plans (CRP), Nuclear Safety Analysis Reports (NSAR), Nuclear Surety Evaluation Reports (NSER), Nuclear Surety Briefings, Point Papers, White Papers, Safety & Nuclear Surety Technical Memoranda, changes to the Master Nuclear Certification List (MNCL), Nuclear Certification Plans (NCP), Engineering Evaluation Reports (EER), Fault Tree Analyses, Probabilistic Risk Assessments, Unauthorized Launch Studies, Launch Action Studies, and Software Certification Plans (SCP).
    • Review ICBM Technical Order change recommendations, Engineering Technical Analysis Requests, and the completion of assigned action items from ICBM safety mishap investigations.
    • Attend conferences and meetings to represent assigned activity. Assist with the development or coordination of working group meeting agendas, scheduling of conference rooms and teleconferences, and the preparation and consolidation of briefing materials, meeting minutes, and answers to action items assigned by other agencies or organizations.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.

    This position is located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah and is currently permitted to be hybrid telework two days a week but requires the ability to come on-site when required to access classified materials or respond to customer needs. Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires U.S. Citizenship status, and qualified candidates must be eligible for and successfully obtain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    Required Education: At least 10 years of experience in direct Program Management with a Bachelor's degree (8 years with a Master's degree)

    Required Skills:

    • Able to obtain and retain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance
    • Able to work independently, demonstrate and take initiative, and organize daily tasks with minimal or no supervision
    • Possess strong communication skills (oral and written) commensurate with expected mid- to senior-level civilian and military participants from various US Government agencies, and internal and external stakeholders
    • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
    • Commitment to results and success in accomplishing goals, as well as a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and understand unique system requirements.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field highly desired (but not required)
    • Current U.S. Government security clearance highly desired (but not required)
    • 10+ years of experience working with nuclear weapon systems
    • Experience with ICBM weapon systems, specifically nuclear surety, nuclear certification, and nuclear safety requirements; coding; targeting; training; and maintenance or operations
    • Familiarity with protecting U.S. military technology and technical data, especially the ICBM weapon system, is highly desired;
    • Willingness to support the customer by learning new functions in Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint, is highly desired

    Pay Information

    Full-Time Salary Range: $103590 - $176130

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
