Apprenticeships

If you've got an interest in business, engineering, science or technology, a Babcock apprenticeship could be for you.

As a Babcock apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in the workplace while also undertaking a part-time course with a training provider.

We offer a competitive apprentice starting salary, between £12,000 and £30,000 per annum, dependent on the apprenticeship level, discipline, and location.

As an apprentice, you'll also receive a superb package of benefits including personal development training and opportunities, a minimum 28 days holiday allowance including bank holidays and a competitive pension scheme.

As you progress through your career, you'll have the opportunity to pursue further education opportunities and higher-level qualifications.

Graduate programmes

  • Engineering and Science Programmes

Tackling everything from electrical and electronic engineering to naval architecture,

our engineering and science graduates are empowered to share their ideas and push the boundaries on some truly exciting projects. We offer a wide range of engineering

and science programmes (on most of them, you'll work towards Incorporated or Chartered status).

  • Business Management Programmes

  • Project Management Programme

We have a diverse range of projects underway at any one time, from design and manufacture to in-service support and capability enhancement. Job description

On our Nuclear Safety Engineering and Operations programme, you'll learn how nuclear and radiological facilities are safely managed and maintained to support the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.

Throughout the programme you'll learn to identify, analyse, and mitigate potential hazards, failures, and faults, ensuring the highest safety standards. Along the way, you'll expand your knowledge of production, project management, design, and safety.

Nuclear Safety Engineering and Operations at Babcock

This programme is designed to give you a broad education in nuclear safety engineering and operational safety management.

You'll undertake diverse placements across the business, working on a variety of projects. You'll receive training from industry experts, including safety case authors, plant managers, operations managers, human factors consultants, and engineers from all disciplines. Additionally, you'll collaborate with radiation protection advisors and environmental management specialists, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the field.

By the end of the programme, you'll have the opportunity to specialise in either Nuclear Safety or Plant Management, aligning your career path to your interests and aspirations.

You'll need a degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) subject.
