Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does
  • Development and implementation of quantitative models and strategies to derive insight into market trends and optimize trading decisions, pricing, and risk management across various financial products and markets
  • Provide front office infrastructure support though ownership and maintenance of analytical libraries
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes
  • In-depth research, data analysis, and statistical modelling to derive insights into market trends, pricing, and risk dynamics
  • Provision of expertise on quantitative methodologies, technological advancements, and industry best practices to drive innovation within the trading environment
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives
  • Working closely with sales teams to identify clients' needs and develop customised solutions
  • Combine domain knowledge with modern statistical learning techniques to extract maximal insight from algorithmic trading data
  • Work with Data Engineering teams to improve the content and quality of data sets critical to algorithmic trading research
  • Develop and maintain understanding of the entire algorithmic trading platform
  • Perform peer review of colleagues' research and code contributions

Contract

40 hours per week

What will you be doing?

Barclays Capital Inc. seeks Vice President, SMAD in New York, NY (multiple positions available):

  • Act as an independent researcher identifying new areas of research which will help improve the algorithmic execution product and improve trade performance.
  • Work closely with the Product Management, Project Management and Technology teams to ensure research projects align with business objectives, address client needs, and are completed on schedule while adhering to all relevant Risk and Control procedures.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of the entire algorithmic trading platform (Java/C++ codebases) and utilize this knowledge to provide critical production support to end users and generate efficient solutions to behavioral trading issues.
  • Combine domain knowledge with modern statistical learning techniques to extract maximal insight from algorithmic trading data.
  • Communicate research ideas and results to others through well written reports as well as appropriate use of data visualization.
  • Perform peer review of colleagues' research and code contributions.
  • Produce scalable, reusable research code which enhances the common research capabilities of the team.
  • Work with Data Engineering teams to improve the content and quality of data sets critical to algorithmic trading research.
  • Perform software releases while adhering to all relevant Risk and Control procedures; assist in the supervision of software releases from junior team members.

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $206,500 per year

Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $250,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

This position is eligible for incentives pursuant to Barclays Employee Referral Program.

Purpose of the role

To provide quantitative and analytical expertise to support trading strategies, risk management, and decision-making within the investment banking domain, applying quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology to optimise trading and investment opportunities.

Accountabilities
