Responsibilities

  • Liaison between Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Projects and Engineering to resolve a variety of issues and queries which arise throughout the build
  • Applying problem solving tools and techniques to resolve issues identified on the shop floor
  • Capturing learning from experience from the shop floor build activities and feed this back into the build strategy to prevent reoccurrence
  • Resolving a wide range of trade build issues, from heavy steel work fabrication through to electrical and mechanical outfit
  • Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to unblock build issues on the shop floor and enable delivery of key milestones in the submarine manufacturing lifecycle

Contract

40 hours per week

  • Minimum HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM
  • You will play a pivotal role in understanding and assessing engineering and build planning issues that affect in week task allocation
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Experience of utilising problem-solving tools and techniques
  • Capturing learning from experience from the shop floor build activities and feed this back into the build strategy to prevent reoccurrence

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Minimum HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Experience of utilising problem-solving tools and techniques (Lean Six sigma)

Desirable:

  • Experience engaging with cross functional stakeholders to resolve engineering / planning issues
  • SAP / Teamcenter experience
  • Understanding of submarine build strategy

The Manufacturing Engineering Team:

As part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, you will be working on the Dreadnought program during the build phase. You will play a pivotal role in understanding and assessing engineering and build planning issues that affect in week task allocation. It will be your responsibility as Build Line Support to resolve any issues and drive these actions through to completion, to enable build delivery. This role also offers an additional shift allowance as well as future growth within the team and wider manufacturing teams. We offer relocation support across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
