  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the design phase.
  • Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Develop electronics for focal plane subsystem technologies and architectures for space and airborne electro-optical instruments that meet marketing and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise for key IR, VIS, and UV focal plane subsystem trades involving detector selection, electronics, onboard processing, and packaging.
  • Support cross functional teams and suppliers to create, influence and define discriminating electronics architectures based on mission needs.
  • Implement metrics to evaluate concepts and designs that represent mission utility for our customers.
  • Promote leading edge technologies for IRAD, future products and business opportunities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to resolve hardware anomalies at the system level and determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Document and present analysis, findings, and design to peers, internal management, and DoD, NASA, and NOAA customers.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.

Contract

40 hours per week

Candidate requirements

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience

  • Experience with high-speed digital and low noise analog circuitry including high speed Analog to Digital Converters, Transimpedance Amplifiers and both active and passive filters
  • Expertise in Space-based EO signal chain analysis and design
  • Hands-on experience testing and modeling focal plane performance characteristics

We are looking for an electronics architect with expertise in focal plane subsystem technologies who can help craft photons-to-bits capabilities enabling high performance signal chain solutions for a wide variety of remote sensing applications.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Expertise in Space-based EO signal chain analysis and design.
  • Hands-on experience testing and modeling focal plane performance characteristics (dark current, read noise, SNR, etc.).
  • Subsystem I&T proficiency (EO characterization, FPA packaging, electronics testing, requirements verification).
  • Demonstrated mastery of low noise design techniques at both a circuit card and sub-system level.
  • Working knowledge of printed circuit layout techniques for high frequency, low noise circuits.
  • Advance knowledge in analog simulation tools.
  • Experience with high-speed digital and low noise analog circuitry including high speed Analog to Digital Converters, Transimpedance Amplifiers and both active and passive filters.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to widely varying audiences.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $92290.000 - $156860.000

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
