Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the project management function, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer expectations
  • Direct the US Defense Master Planning function, ensuring integrated master planning and scheduling capabilities.
  • Lead a team responsible for developing, streamlining and maintaining project management guidelines, competency frameworks, and training programs
  • Drive lifecycle management (LCM) reviews and support project teams during critical phases such as proposal development, project initiation, and production transition
  • Champion sector initiatives including PM competency, earned value management and performance recovery
  • Lead the Project Management Leadership Team (PMLT), collaborating with senior executives and functional representatives to shape strategic improvements and build cross business area connections
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and digital transformation within project management organizations.
  • Collaborate with Business Winning teams to implement best practices in proposal management
  • Deliver executive-level briefings to internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Represent ES sector on Project Management Councils, as required

Contract

40 hours per week

Job Description

BAE's Electronic Systems (ES) sector is seeking our next Senior Director, Program Excellence to oversee and enhance the project management function across the sector. This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring project success through effective leadership, strategic oversight and implementation of industry best practices.

Reporting to the President of ES, this role will be at any major ES location. An onsite or hybrid work format is available, with regular travel to Nashua, NH and Falls Church, VA expected.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience
  • Deep understanding of project management lifecycle across defense, commercial, and international contracts
  • Proficiency in DoD acquisition processes and environments
  • Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement and driving change
  • Experience in developing project management training and adult learning techniques
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and achieve results

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification
  • Familiarity with BAE Systems' product portfolio and technologies
  • Experience collaborating in matrixed organizational structures
  • Ability to manage and report financial metrics using Earned Value Management techniques
  • MBA degree and/or advanced certifications in project management or related fields

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $194600 - $330800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
