Responsibilities

  • **Lead and Innovate:** Establish and lead the oligonucleotide analytical team, collaborating cross-functionally to advance our pre-clinical portfolio and technology platforms. Hire, manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
  • **Be the Expert:** Serve as GSK's subject matter expert on oligonucleotide analytical chemistry. Keep abreast of industry advancements, regulatory requirements and competitor approaches in oligonucleotide analysis.
  • **Communicate Impact:** Provide regular updates and address challenges to stakeholders at all levels across GSK. Contribute to patents, publications, posters, and presentations, showcasing our scientific advancements.
  • **Standardize Excellence:** Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for oligonucleotide and monomer analysis and characterization to ensure high-quality, reproducible results.
  • **Foster Quality:** Partner with the oligonucleotide chemistry team to ensure accountability and excellence in oligonucleotide and conjugate synthesis.
  • **Collaborate Externally:** Support partnerships with external entities and manage relationships with CROs as needed.

Contract

40 hours per week

Candidate requirements

  • Experience with small molecules/biologics, monomers, conjugates, and relevant formulations thereof
  • Experience in modern analytical and quality control methods as applied to therapeutic oligonucleotides
  • Strong analytical chemistry expertise in solving analytical challenges in the field of therapeutic oligonucleotides
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills, including the ability to set, prioritize, and achieve research goals
  • Excellent scientific and analytical skills, with a demonstrable ability to multitask, prioritize, and drive projects to conclusion
  • Leadership experience, including training, developing, and managing talent and the ability to build, motivate, and inspire diverse high-performing teams
  • Prior experience of establishing an oligonucleotide analytical laboratory
  • A demonstrable understanding of RNA biology and contemporary oligonucleotide screening technologies
  • Ability to work effectively with a team of multidisciplinary experts including biology, chemistry, safety assessment, computational sciences, clinical scientists, translational scientists, and others

As the Team Leader, Oligonucleotide Analytical Chemistry, you and your team will play a pivotal role in the analysis and quality control of GSK's pre-clinical therapeutic oligonucleotide pipeline. You will leverage advanced analytical chemistry techniques to accelerate GSK's pre-clinical oligonucleotide pipeline and platform technology ambitions.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS/MS with 5+ years or Ph.D. with 2+ years of experience in the analysis of oligonucleotides, including 2+ years of experience managing laboratory scientists.
  • Experience in modern analytical and quality control methods as applied to therapeutic oligonucleotides. Experience with small molecules/biologics, monomers, conjugates, and relevant formulations thereof.
  • Leadership experience, including training, developing, and managing talent and the ability to build, motivate, and inspire diverse high-performing teams. Prior experience of establishing an oligonucleotide analytical laboratory is a plus.
  • Strong analytical chemistry expertise in solving analytical challenges in the field of therapeutic oligonucleotides.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven effective communication and negotiation skills suitable for a wide range of audiences, from laboratory analysts to senior management
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills, including the ability to set, prioritize, and achieve research goals.
  • Excellent scientific and analytical skills, with a demonstrable ability to multitask, prioritize, and drive projects to conclusion.
  • A demonstrable understanding of RNA biology and contemporary oligonucleotide screening technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team of multidisciplinary experts including biology, chemistry, safety assessment, computational sciences, clinical scientists, translational scientists, and others.
