Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group's reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Legal Counsel.

In this role you will:
• Provide counsel and manage legal support in relation to products, transactions, projects and material regulatory issues having an impact on the GPB&W business in the UK.
• Be considered a trusted adviser to the business by ensuring that commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice is provided in a cost-effective manner.
• Provide support and guidance to the GPB&W business in the UK with regard to legal risks and regulatory developments arising in jobholder's area of expertise.
• Provide support and guidance on both business and industry-led projects.
• Ensure senior legal management is fully briefed on major issues arising and major legislative changes in area of expertise.
• Assist the business to remain compliant with legal risk management requirements set out in the Group Standards Manual and Legal FIM.
Requirements
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor and relevant sector mid level experience gained either within a financial institution or top tier private practice;
• some experience of investment products and services and associated regulation preferred;
• resourceful and flexible with ability to pick up and apply new areas of law in a fast moving environment;
• excellent written and spoken communication skills, with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered;
This is a hybrid working role with the base location as London.
