Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations
  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures
  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models

Contract

40 hours per week

Candidate requirements

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives
  • Ability to attract diverse, high performing talent into the team at all levels
  • Certified in AWS Cloud and / or Databricks
  • Experience of working in Scaled Agile, LeSS or similar enterprise frameworks

Role specifics

  • Lead the implementation of a modern data science and ML Ops Cloud platform for the Corporate Bank, enabling the Corporate banking growth strategy Functional leadership of a global team of c.100 data engineers, ML engineers and data science colleagues Budget oversight of c.£10m pa change budget Interfaces with Accountable Execs (Business Product Owners) in the Corporate Banking Digital, Data & Analytics functions
  • Thought leader in concepts of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and ML Ops
  • Certified in AWS Cloud and / or Databricks
  • Strong influencing and communication skills
  • Hands-on technical leader, able to lead by example.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
