Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and other accounting documents.
  • Input financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable records.
  • Process invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Assist with payroll processing, including calculating wages, withholding taxes, and preparing payroll reports.
  • Maintain and update general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate with clients to gather financial information, address inquiries, and provide support as needed.
  • Assist with tax preparation efforts by organising financial documents and preparing supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and file tax returns, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax filings, in accordance with regulations.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities as directed.
  • Collaborate with other team members within the firm, including accountants and senior management, to support client needs and firm goals.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing documents, organising records, and managing correspondence.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and industry trends to ensure compliance and proficiency in job duties.
  • Provide support and assistance to accountants and other staff members as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the firm

Contract

39 hours per week

Candidate requirements

  • There are no minimum academic requirements, although entrants typically possess GCSEs/S grades or equivalent qualifications, and maths may be required.
  • Training is typically provided on-the-job. NVQs/SVQs in relevant areas are available, and apprenticeships may be available in some areas.

Skills used at work

  • Aptitude for identifying discrepancies and resolving issues in financial records.
  • Strong skills in Excel for data analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.
