Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and interpret advanced blueprints to preform task required
  • Repair ship components using blueprints, skhes and sample parts
  • Perform valve and pump repair and overhaul
  • Work with rudders, shafts, propellers and deck machinery
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery

Contract

40 hours per week

Job Description

Are you seeking a job that provides top benefits and career longevity? BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair Division has multiple openings for Outside Machinist with varying degrees of experience. The Mechanic performs a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, general dock, rudders, shafting, propeller work, and testing. The Mechanic will have general knowledge of equipment operation for assembly, installation and testing that may include; records work performed and follows specified safety policies and procedures.

As an Outside Machinist, you will:

  • Perform a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, general dock, rudders, shafting, propeller work, and testing.
  • Use knowledge of equipment operation for assembly, installation and testing.
  • Perform valve and pump repair and overhaul.
  • Repair ship components using blueprints, sketches and sample parts.
  • Work with rudders, shafts, propellers and deck machinery.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Required Education, Experience and Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Read, write and comprehend simple instructions
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
  • Able to calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimals
  • Know how to measure using a scale and tape measure
  • Read, understand, and interpret advanced blueprints to preform task required
  • Use of measuring devices (rulers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics, scales, etc.), hand tools, and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Trained in all annual NAVSEA Standard Items
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification System "DBIDS" access card.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $35048 - $62400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
