  • As an Electrical Power Engineering Industrial Placement candidate, you will join an exciting team who work throughout the whole submarine life cycle, from concept through to activities with the operational fleet across our current, new and future classes of submarine like Astute, Dreadnought & SSN-AUKUS.

    BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Industrial Placement Programme you will be required to attend your site 3-5 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

    What you will be doing

    As an Electrical Power Engineering Industrial Placement candidate, you will join an exciting team who work throughout the whole submarine life cycle, from concept through to activities with the operational fleet across our current, new and future classes of submarine like Astute, Dreadnought & SSN-AUKUS.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    You could be involved in designing, developing and modelling complex systems, components and products, as well as supporting build, test, commissioning and in service operation, including but not limited to the following areas:

    • Power System Architecture; Protection and Co-ordination; Earth Fault Monitoring; Modelling (Simulation and Analysis) and Operation

    • Power Equipment (active, generation, passive)

    • Power Generation and Distribution – both AC & DC

    • Energy Storage

    • Power Electronics

    Skills

    As a minimum requirement you'll need to be on track to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

    To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
