Responsibilities

  • Supervise the CNC Production / Machine shop personnel in day-to-day operations.
  • Conduct performance reviews.
  • Responsible for establishing workstation assignments, employee training, overtime assignments and back-up for absent employees.
  • Maintain and communicate the machining schedule status to ensure meeting customer expectations.
  • Support and encourage a culture and an attitude with an emphasis on quality improvement.
  • Identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities and implementing change to improve process, reduce cycle and setup times.
  • Maintain shop measuring equipment calibration program ensuring all relative equipment is calibrated according to schedule.
  • Maintain machine shop organization, safety, and cleanliness practices using 6S.
  • Ensure all team members follow work instructions, quality requirements and processes.
  • Ensure accurate CNC machine shop staff data recording. Namely clock-in/clock-out activities
  • Provide continued training and skills development for team members, and mentor early career team member.
  • Ensure start-up readiness for production.
  • Ability to perform interviews, evaluate talent and provide hiring recommendations.
  • Safely work within an industrial environment.

Contract

40 hours per week

  • Knowledge and understanding of CNC programs / cycles and Tooling
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and machining job scheduling is a plus
  • Six Sigma problem solving preferred, if not Six Sigma, some experience with structured problem-solving techniques preferred
  • Ability to perform interviews, evaluate talent and provide hiring recommendations
  • Experience supervising skilled machinists is required

This individual will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CNC Production / Machine shop, ensuring efficient processes, and maintaining a safe working environment. This role involves managing a team of machinists, coordinating prototype schedules, and implementing quality control measures. The Value Stream Specialist plays a crucial role in optimizing workflow, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that KPI's are met. The supervisor needs to be effective in a fast-paced and agile environment.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    • Typically, a bachelor's degree and 6 years or more progressive work experience or equivalent experience
    • Experience supervising skilled machinists is required. Knowledge of CNC machining and machining job scheduling is a plus.
    • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with management and employees at all levels.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed data analysis, identify areas for improvement, and drive focused actions to initiate change.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    • 4+ years minimum of management experience
    • 5+ years' experience in machine shop / manufacturing environment
    • Experience with 6s, Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen concepts
    • Experience with US Government work or Weapon Systems technologies
    • Knowledge and understanding of CNC programs / cycles and Tooling.
    • Six Sigma problem solving preferred, if not Six Sigma, some experience with structured problem-solving techniques preferred

    Pay Information

    Full-Time Salary Range: $73778 - $125422

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
